A Historic Ground Breaking Ceremony
On Friday October 9th, Trinity had its ground breaking ceremony to build its first permanent building. It was attended by the entire school, the board of trustees, and many parents and honored guests.
The students were given Trinity Academy hard hats to celebrate the occasion. Seeing a sea of these hats in the crowd was awesome and encouraging.
When it came time to break ground, the administration chose three students -- one from high school, one from middle school, and one from elementry school -- for the honor. Although board members and other honored guests were given golden shovels to commemorate the occasion; we felt that the students -- who represent the future and the best of Trinity -- should perform the actual ground breaking.
The event was marked by prayers and a few words from Dr. Littlejohn, but perhaps the most significant happening at the groundbreaking occured after the event ended and students were dismissed. Our high school senior class, on their own initiative, gathered in a circle and held hands and prayed over the school while everyone else made their way back to class. Our Seniors are blessed to have many Godly role models and leaders in their group. There are also several who have attended Trinity since kindergarden. It was good and fitting that they had the opportunity to see and pray over this day.
This event was the second groundbreaking on Trinty's campus. The first was when we started clearing the land to accomodate the school. If you weren't here for that one, you can read about it and the stone cairn that memorializes it here.
